Restart destination

Image No sooner had actor Tony Todd complained that Destination 6 would never see the light of day, when New Line Cinema announced plans for a popular horror franchise. As The Hollywood Reporter found out, Tony Todd is right - the next sequel to "Destination" will not happen, but the bosses of New Line are ready to restart the film series.

While the details of the project have not been disclosed, but it is described as a new look at the franchise. The scriptwriters of the reboot are selected by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, who have a decent work experience in the horror genre. They were the authors of several parts of "Saw", as well as the horror film "The Collector" and its sequel. "Destination" has always been famous not so much for the abundance of blood, but for how absurdly the heroes of the films died. It is unclear at this point whether the writers will stick to the style of their previous work or whether they will create a reboot in the best traditions of The Destination.

The first part of the film series was released in 2000, followed by four more. For a little over ten years, “Destination” has brought good dividends for New Line, but, as Todd said, the fifth film did not live up to the major's expectations.

Over the past few years, New Line has been releasing successful horror movies one after another - from the film adaptation of It to the Conjuring franchise. The latter's second spin-off, The Curse of the Nun, grossed a record-breaking $ 365 million worldwide box office, and Destination fans can only hope that death's next visit will be just as successful. The release date of the reboot has not been determined, but if New Line hurries up, it will just have time to release the film for the 20th anniversary of the franchise.
