Official: Joaquin Phoenix Becomes Joker
Warner Bros. Studio officially confirmed that now there will be two Jokers in the world of movie comics. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joaquin Phoenix, who was asked by the major to try on the image of the cult villain back in February, finally signed an agreement with the WB, and the Joker's solo album received the green light from the studio.For the first time about a project that will not enter the DC cinematic universe, they started talking a year ago. However, protracted negotiations with Phoenix left room for doubt, as the three-time Oscar nominee once claimed the role of Doctor Strange and eventually turned down Marvel after much deliberation. Slated for September filming will be led by Todd Phillips (The Hangover in Vegas). He also wrote the script for the film together with Scott Silver ("The Fighter"). Solnik is described as a harsh and instructive story about a man despised by society. The WB bosses are ready to spend about $ 55 million for the production of the tape - much less than for the "Justice League" and other films of the DC cinematic universe. This approach is similar to what 20th Century Fox did with Deadpool and Logan, but whether WB will take the R-rated risk remains to be seen. In any case, the film about the Joker will be a crime drama, not a superhero blockbuster in its usual sense.  No release date has yet been set for the film, in line with WB's new strategy. Perhaps more news about the project will come from the Comic-Con festival. The studio is also preparing another Joker solo album, but with Jared Leto in the lead role.
