Love in Hell

Image Synchronicity Films will tell the touching love story of two prisoners of the largest Nazi death camp. According to Deadline, the British studio is starting work on a TV series based on Heather Morris's book "The Tattooist of Auschwitz.

The work of the New Zealand writer hit the shelves of bookstores in February this year and earned a lot of flattering reviews from literary critics. Soon, several well-known television and film studios joined the fight for the rights to film the bestseller. Synchronicity Films won the exciting auction.

The main character of the book is the Auschwitz prisoner Lale Eisenberg, who was commissioned by the concentration camp authorities to mark other prisoners with tattoos with serial numbers. In July 1942, another batch of prisoners arrived at the German death factory. Among the new arrivals was a young girl, Gita Furmanova, at a glance at which Eisenberg's heart was pierced by Cupid's arrow.

Two days before the liberation of Auschwitz by Soviet soldiers, Lale was transferred to the Mauthausen concentration camp. Eisenberg miraculously broke free and went to Bratislava to find Gita at the center for the distribution of former concentration camp prisoners. After several weeks of aimless searches, Eisenberg almost gave up, but one day he accidentally saw his beloved on the street. Lale and Gita were married in 1945 and received passports with a perfect new surname. The Sokolov couple opened their own factory in Bratislava, but after a couple of years it was expropriated by local communists. Lala and Geeta had to go to Australia, where they lived a long and happy life.

For many years, Lale kept his work secret within the walls of Auschwitz, fearing that he would be accused of aiding the Nazis. In 2003, after Geeta died, he contacted Heather Morris to finally tell people about his years in the death camp.
