After the film Call Me By Your Name, a touching romantic story about falling in love, director Luca Guadagnino decided to abruptly change the genre course and took up horror. And not just a horror, but a remake of the classic Giallo Dario Argento from 1977. A dubbed trailer of his film "Suspiria" appeared on the Web, in which Luka, by the way, promised not to repeat a single frame of the original. The main roles in the film were played by Dakota Johnson, Mia Goth and Tilda Swinton. Guadagnino worked with the latter for the fifth time.|
Berlin 1977. Young ballerina Susie (Dakota Johnson) comes from Ohio to the prestigious ballet boarding house located in the western part of the city to join the legendary dance troupe led by the great Madame Blank (Tilda Swinton) after long grueling rehearsals and competitions. However, Susie's newfound girlfriend, dancer Sarah (Mia Goth), convinces the girl that the walls of the boarding house hide a terrible secret. According to her, some supernatural forces once caused the disappearance of one of Madame Blanc's students without a trace, and any of the remaining ballerinas could become the next victim ...
The world premiere of the tape took place in early September at the Venice Film Festival. Suspiria won a Soundtrack Stars award, but critics were divided on the film's artistic value. Some liked the"whirlwind of emotions"and the"rare madness"oozing from the screen, while others considered the remake an ambitious, but unnecessary and absolutely devoid of poetics homage.
In our country, Luca Guadagnino's new film will be released on November 29.
