Milos Forman died
In America, at the age of 87, the famous director and screenwriter Milos Forman died. The spouse of the two-time Oscar winner reported the sad news to the Czech news agency CTK.Milos Forman was born on February 18, 1932 in the Czechoslovak city of Chaslav. During World War II, he lost his parents in German concentration camps and was forced to attend boarding schools for orphans. In the early 1950s, Foreman managed to enter the Film and Television Department of the Prague Academy of Fine Arts. The very first works of the young director made it clear that he was destined to become one of the brightest representatives of the Golden Age of Czech cinema. European fame came to Milos in 1964, when his film "Black Peter" won the main prize of the Locarno festival. Three years later, Foreman entered the world film arena with the film "Love Adventures of a Blonde", which received an Oscar nomination in the category "Best Foreign Language Film."  The key role in the fate of the director was played by his first color picture - "Firemen's Ball". The satirical comedy about the shortcomings of the communist regime was banned in Czechoslovakia and pushed Milos to the idea of moving to the United States. The very first film in Foreman's American career, Breakaway, was warmly received by critics and took the main prize at the Cannes Film Festival. However, the main masterpieces of Milos were still ahead. The Firemen's Ball made such an impression on Michael Douglas that he decided to invite Foreman to the director's chair for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. The adaptation of the novel of the same name by Ken Kesey won the 48th Academy Awards and the second film in history to win this film award in five key categories - Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor "And" Best Actress ".  In 1979, Foreman directed the famous musical Hair, and three years later he re-entered the Oscar race when his film Ragtime received eight nominations for the world's main film award. To the director's disappointment, American academics left the film without a single award. Milos took a convincing revenge in 1985: his drama Amadeus won eight gold statuettes, including an award for best director.  In 1997, Foreman received his third Oscar nomination for The People Against Larry Flynt, but lost to Anthony Minghella for the title of Best Director. During his distinguished career, Milos Forman has won over forty different film prizes.
