The head of the Ministry of Culture of the USA Federation, Vladimir Medinsky, is going to arrange a check and reassessment of film festivals, which are held in USA with funds allocated from the state budget. TASS reports.|
Speaking at a meeting of the Ministry of Culture in Vladivostok, Medinsky said that some festivals boil down to banquets and buffets amid two or three shows. Interest in such events is only among the artists who conduct them, so such film screenings are simply not needed. This negative practice has been developing for 25 years, so it was decided that such festivals would be reorganized or closed.
However, the head of the department noted that prestigious festivals are also held in USA, attended by participants and spectators from all over the world. Among them are the Moscow International Film Festival, Kinotavr, Artdokfest, Kinoshock and others.
