Alan Wake goes to TV screens

Image Everyone knows not very successful Hollywood film adaptations of video games. So, "Max Payne", "Alone in the Dark" and "Assassin's Creed" did not find recognition from either critics or fans of the franchises. This is understandable - it is rather difficult to fit the plot of at least ten hours of gameplay into the timing of the film. However, the creator of the game Alan Wake Sam Lake decided to take a different path, namely - to transfer his creation to small screens, according to the publication Variety. Peter Calloway, known to our viewers from the series "Legion", "Cloak and Dagger" and "Under the Dome", has been appointed as the showrunner, and Lake himself will act as an executive producer.

Launched on Xbox 360 and Windows PC in 2010, the game is centered around writer Alan Wake (Matthew Porrett). He travels to a small town in Washington state, where he hopes to get rid of the lingering creative crisis. But events are beginning to develop in an increasingly surrealistic vein. Unknown forces bring to life the plot from Wake's latest novel, but Alan does not remember that he ever wrote it ...

Alan Wake was essentially an in-game series,, commented Thomas Harlan, head of Contradiction Films, which produces the show. "That was Sam's vision and we plan to work closely with." Harlan also clarified the situation regarding the plot of the series: “I think it's important to reveal all the characters and bring Alan Wake back to where he ended up in the video game. We can't start the show with him running through the woods and killing lumberjacks”.

The critically acclaimed Alan Wake never got its proper sequel. Alan Wake's American Nightmare was more of an addition than a full sequel. Despite the fact that the original game sold 4.5 million copies, the sequel was never released.
