John Lithgow will visit the pet cemetery

Image There was a period when film adaptations of Stephen King's works were either sent straight to video or filmed exclusively for television. However, last year's horror film "It" changed everything, and soon moviegoers and king fans will receive several full-length adaptations at once, one of which will be "Pet Sematary."

Not so long ago it became known that the main role in the film will be performed by Jason Clarke ("Target number one"). Now the two-time Oscar nominee John Lithgow (The Language of Tenderness) has agreed to keep him company. The portal Entertainment Weekly writes about this.

Clarke will play Dr. Louis Creed, who moved with his family to a small town in Maine. Lithgow, in turn, will embody the image of Jude Crandall - the Creed's new neighbor. One day, the family's favorite cat dies under the wheels of a truck, and Jude tells Louis about the mystical cemetery. Its peculiarity lies in the ability to resurrect the dead, and after Louis buries a furry pet here, he returns home the next day. You don't need to be an expert on King's creativity to guess that one day a person will be buried in the cemetery ...

Pet Sematary was already filmed in 1989 by Mary Lambert. The role of Crandall in that version was brilliantly played by Fred Guinn. The picture was a perfectly decent adaptation of the original novel, thanks in large part to the fact that King wrote the script himself. This time, Kevin Kolsh and Dennis Widmeier ("Eyes of the Star") will try to transfer the book to the big screens, who will work with the text by Jeffrey Buechler ("Midnight Express").

The Paramount studio plans to open the Pet Sematary on April 19 next year.
