Trevorrow Returns to Jurassic World

Image Last month, Universal officially confirmed plans to create an entire Jurassic World trilogy. And if at that time only the names of the scriptwriters of the third part and the date of its release were known, now the press managed to find out who will lead the shooting of the project. Steven Spielberg, the producer of the revived franchise, in a conversation with the journalists of the portal Entertainment Weekly admitted that Colin Trevorrow will take the director's chair of the triquel.

It is unlikely that this news will be a big surprise for someone. Following the success of Security Is Not Guaranteed at the Sundance Festival, Trevorrow entered the blockbuster world and got the opportunity to work on a sequel to one of the most popular film series. His "Jurassic World" earned $ 1.67 billion at the worldwide box office. And although some critics were not impressed by the film, the audience was satisfied, and the sequel was not long in coming.

When Universal launched the second part, Trevorrow was busy with other projects, and Juan Antonio Bayona was invited to direct. In the wake of the resounding success of Jurassic World, Lucasfilm invited Colin to a galaxy far, far away - the director was supposed to film the ninth episode. However, the collaboration with the studio turned out to be short-lived: the failure of Henry's Book and creative differences did their job, and Trevorrow never played Star Wars.

At the same time, Trevorrow did not actually leave the Jurassic World franchise: it was he, together with Derek Connolly, who wrote the script for the second part. Earlier it became known that Colin will create the text of the triquel already in the company of Emily Carmichael ("Pacific Rim 2"). Trevorrow originally envisioned Jurassic World as a trilogy, and now it is up to him to complete it. The final film is set to release on June 11, 2021.
