After the defeat of the Nazi hordes near Moscow, occult services joined the confrontation between the USSR and Nazi Germany. The German `Annenerbe` summoned the Teutonic knights from the bottom of Lake Peipsi, led by Baron von Wolf, the Soviet 6th KGB department in response sent pioneer Nadia - the only survivor of the heroic First Detachment of pioneer special forces - to follow the dead comrades straight to hell. The battle of the dead pioneers with von Wolf should decide the outcome of the Rzhev-Vyazemsky counteroffensive in the winter of 1942.

The cartoon invented by Moscow avant-garde artists was drawn by the Japanese studio " 4 & deg; C " under the direction of director Yoshiharu Ashino. Hence - the style of Japanese comics - manga, which wrapped the Great Patriotic War in a samurai-occult binding. " Manga " from Japanese, by the way, literally means grotesque or `` strange pictures '', so that Klimov and Shpritz, a story about zombie pioneers on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, fell into the genre, like a pretty penny.

The harsh history of the Great Patriotic War and the crazy style of manga famously crossed by innovators Mikhail Syringe and Alexei Klimov (who are, in their own way, our Neveldine and Taylor), gave birth to a strange symbiosis that beats with the handle of a katana on the organs of perception. The authors of the cartoon managed not only to combine genres alien to one another, but also did it so cleverly that their creation manages to influence the viewer with the same force as the best examples of each of the combined genres separately.

The main thing that holds the manga together with the Great Patriotic War is a cleverly twisted intrigue, in which dreams, premonitions, the Soviet offensive, katanas, a KGB general and a necroportator were mixed. At the same time, each of the components gives it the `` clean '' a stream of impressions, the full set of which gives rise to an unpredictable impression of a cartoon from a particular viewer - from delight to complete rejection.

War scenes, starting with the bombing and shell-shock of the blonde pioneer Nadia, create a surprisingly powerful feeling of the tragedy and hopelessness of war - a horror before which everything else cringes.

The stingy footage of the military actions and the military parade in Moscow on November 7, 1941, excites contact with the reality of those years, not giving a damn about the cartoony, - stronger than other scenes of the military chronicle.

The second person of the cartoon - from the side of the manga - on the contrary, deliberately surreal. Leather killers on a motorcycle and an old warrior monk, a katana tied with a pioneer tie, and Constantine-style descent into hell make you forget that cinema, in general, is about the Great Patriotic War, and draw visual pleasure from the glitter of steel and the scattering of blood peas.

Cinema fans "with help" who fell in love with "First squad " at the thirteenth minute, they will see the lack of a tape in only one thing - some kind of mockingly short timing does not allow the cartoon characters to turn around and acquire emotional connections, which is mandatory for anime, even if it is about pioneers.

Scientists and veterans, importantly broadcasting in the mockumentary inserts between events, - in the cartoon, not to give a touch of authenticity, as everyone decided. It is rather the authors' self-irony and, at the same time, a powerful kick to those stupid people who, for some reason, found themselves in the audience hall, muttering about the crazy ideas of the writers and insulting the memory of the participants in the war. We don't know a damn thing about what it was like there, how it could have been and how it couldn't, but in relation to the heroes of all fronts, the `` First Detachment '' movieed with great respect. In addition, a loophole has been left in the script, allowing the authors to make a surprised face if something happens and say that the original plan was to movie the delirium of a shell-shocked pioneer, but what did you think?

K " First squad " You can treat it differently, but it would be stupid not to recognize it as a new word in culture and domestic cinema. In the epic chalk-action movie Pearl Harbor Michael Bay has excellent dialogue between two American pilots preparing to take off from aircraft carriers and conduct a daring bombing of Tokyo. One says: `` We are crazy that we got involved in this '', and the other, drawing a sword on the fuselage of a bomber, tries to cheer him up - they say, come on, we are the edge of the sword!

" First squad " produces a similar effect on viewers. This experience is not without flaws, but in its audacious courage and skillful palette of impressions, this cartoon is like a blade of great precision, sharpness and power - the edge of a sword.
