Quiet Place writers will wake up Stephen King's Book

Image Hollywood directors and screenwriters Brian Woods and Scott Beck made their debut in big cinema back in 2004, but the long-awaited fame overtook them only this spring thanks to the film A Quiet Place. The authors of the silent horror plot by John Krasinski decided to reap dividends from the new status and signed up to work on adapting one of the early stories of the great and terrible Stephen King.

According to Deadline, the creative duo will write a horror script based on the story "And Buka Came" for 20th Century Fox and 21 Laps. The first publication of the work took place back in 1973 in the men's magazine Cavalier. Five years later, King included "Buka" in his first collection of short stories, entitled "The Night Shift."

The main character of the story is a man named Lester Billings, whose three children died under mysterious circumstances. The protagonist himself is sure that his children fell victims to a mysterious monster nicknamed Buka. To cope with his emotional wounds, Lester decides to see a therapist ...

The upcoming film will be the first full-length adaptation of Buka. Previously, the story formed the basis of seven short films, the creators of which took advantage of King's legendary "dollar deal". As you know, the King of Horrors kindly allows young filmmakers and independent studios to acquire the rights to film adaptations of their books for a symbolic amount of $ 1.

The horror film will be produced by Dan Levine (Arrival) and Sean Levy (Mysterious Events).
