From constructor to board

Image Having played enough with the designer as an animator of the tape "Lego. Film "and the director of the film" The Lego Movie: Batman ", Chris McKay decided to switch to board games. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Emmy Award winner is considering an offer to lead a film based on the cult fantasy media franchise, Dungeons & Dragons.

In 1974, Dave Arneson and E. Gary Gygax presented the tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, which became a huge sales hit and served as the basis for a whole series of books, comics and video games. Unfortunately for fans of the franchise, D & D has yet to receive a decent film adaptation. The first attempt to make a film based on a board game was made in 2000. The film "Dungeon of Dragons" failed at the box office and earned devastating press reviews, but managed to get two sequels, which, however, went straight to the video.

A reboot of the film series was announced in August 2015. At first, she was dealt with by Warner Bros. studio, which planned to invite Rob Letterman to the director's chair and give the lead role to Ansel Elgort. Last December, WB bosses unexpectedly sold the film rights to Paramount Pictures, whose management decided to bring new people to the project.

Chris McKay is an excellent filmmaker for Dungeons & Dragons. He has been a longtime visual effects artist and has already earned the favor of the modern geek community for his critically acclaimed Lego Movie: Batman cartoon, which has nearly quadrupled its production budget.

The talented director also plans to shoot a comic strip about Nightwing's adventures.
