Alf will return to screens

Image The film and television industries are experiencing a crisis of original ideas today, and instead of surprising viewers with new stories, producers prefer to seek out once-popular films or TV series and bring them back to life. Not spared this fate and the comedy "Alf", released on NBC in the late 80s.

TVLine reports that Warner Bros. Television begins work on the Alpha reboot. While the project is at its initial stage, the search for a screenwriter with a good track record is underway.

The original series, directed by Paul Fusco, has four seasons. Its main character is the alien Gordon Shumway from the planet Melmak, simply Alf, who was sheltered on Earth by the Tanner family. On the one hand, Alf is distinguished by self-confidence and greed, grumbles a lot and loves to eat well, especially cats, but on the other hand, he has an open soul and pure thoughts. Although the hero does not always appreciate the hospitality of the Tanners, he still loves all family members.

The last episode of "Alpha" was released in 1990, and viewers did not like the ending of the series. In order to finish the show with dignity, the film "Project: Alf" was subsequently shot specially for TV, but, unfortunately, it was not received properly, largely due to the absence of the Tanners themselves.

Probably the Warner Bros. Television hopes to play on the nostalgic feelings of the audience, as Alpha still has a large following. However, there are few decent reboots of old series on modern television, and as an exception, you can cite last year's "Twin Peaks" or the recently closed comedy "Roseanne", which distinguished not only with excellent ratings, but also a scandal with actress Rosanna Barr.
