All is not lost for the Sinister Six
After Sony successfully rebooted the Peter Parker franchise, the studio wanted to create not only a few sequels to The Amazing Spider-Man, but a number of spin-offs. One of them could be a tape about a team of villains called The Sinister Six. It was directed and written by Drew Goddard, and Sony wanted to get started on the film as soon as possible. However, the failure of High Voltage ruined all the plans of the major, and the Sinister Six, along with other spin-offs, went to gather dust on the shelf.Subsequently, the rights to Peter Parker passed to Marvel, but Sony did not give up and decided to build a whole universe, the main characters of which will be the friends and enemies of Spider-Man. "Venom", despite the criticism, was successful financially, and the animated film "Spider-Man: Into the Universes" should be a hit in the box office. In an interview with Vanity Fair, producer Amy Pascal admitted she is ready to start work on Sinister Six anytime:“I'm looking forward to Drew being able to lead the shoot. I agree to any joint project with him. ”.  Ironically, after the release of The Cabin in the Woods, Goddard took up the Netflix series Daredevil, but left it shortly before filming began just for The Sinister Six. This year saw the premiere of Goddard's second film, the thriller Nothing Good at the Hotel El Royale. Critics praised the picture, but the audience did not appreciate it: it grossed only $ 31 million in the world box office.
