War is not a child's face: watch this week

Image The coming week in our box office will be held under the sign of Victory Day: several new products will in one way or another touch on the theme of war. The most powerful of them, which has already earned the status of a must-see, is "Anna's War" - a chamber story about military realities through the eyes of a child. For a more epic spectacle, try a drama called Corridor of Immortality, whose name refers to the Corridor of Death near besieged Leningrad, also known as Victory Road. On this temporary railway line, food was delivered to the city under regular shelling. The film will tell about how it was built and what an important role it played in the defense of Leningrad and breaking the blockade.

Another film about hostilities, but already in Afghanistan in the late 80s, will be presented by the outstanding domestic filmmaker Pavel Lungin, and foreign filmmakers will tell about the war on terrorism through a drama based on real events about the terrorist attack in Mumbai.

Anna's War ". Without words and allies

Director Alexei Fedorchenko, known for the films Oatmeal and Heavenly Wives of the Meadow Mari, will present to the public the soul-tearing claustrophobic story of a girl who lost her entire family during World War II and is trying to survive in the commander's office's non-working fireplace, hiding from the Nazis. The main role in the picture was played by the young actress Marta Kozlova, who, for obvious reasons, does not say a word in the frame, but this makes her play even more piercing and convincing.

There is no pretentious dialogue about the horrors of war or the heroism of USA soldiers in this drama, there is no usual anguish - the eternal companion of modern films about the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War. We are simply invited to go with a little girl through her own war and try not to go crazy, not to lose human form. Alexey Fedorchenko's tape long before the premiere on our screens caused a stir among critics, collected a bunch of awards (including competing Nika and Golden Eagle), hundreds of rave reviews and now can rightfully be considered an ideal option for going to the cinema on Victory Day.

Corridor of Immortality ". "This train is on fire ..."

The parade of heartbreaking war films will be continued by Fyodor Popov's drama about the Leningrad schoolgirl Masha Yablochkina, who, after the blockade winter of 1941-1942, was involved in the construction of the Shlisselburg highway, known as the “death corridor”. Food was delivered through it to the city, and it was fired on from all sides by German artillery. One of the script authors Dmitry Karalis, whose father was a direct participant in those events, guarantees the reliability of the events shown in the film. Also, one of the project's biased consultants was the front-line writer Daniil Granin.

The plot is based on the real story of Maria Yablontseva, with whom the director spent a lot of time discussing the details of the future picture. So, she said that the attitude of Soviet soldiers to the girls who came to pave this road was extremely gallant, despite the difficult living conditions and overwhelming responsibility: it was impossible either to sleep or eat a single handful of flour intended for the inhabitants of the starving city. The “Corridor of Immortality” will tell you about the actions and decisions that made up the great feat of all who connected the bloodless Leningrad with the mainland.

Brotherhood ". Uncomfortable male movie

Another film about the war, but this time about the Afghan one, will be presented by the cult USA director Pavel Lungin. "Brotherhood", as its creator claims, is "an honest male movie" about how men survive in conditions that are not suitable for life, about their sense of humor, which is salutary in such situations, and unconditional support. No radio operators shedding tears on the soldiers' wounds, according to Lungin, should not be expected from his tape. The plot revolves around a reconnaissance group caught in the epicenter of the conflict between staff officers, Islamists, special forces, intelligence, Afghan officials, Soviet special services, Tajiks and Pashtuns.

It was originally supposed that the film would be released on May 9, but Afghan veterans (as well as some MPs) did not like this idea, and the premiere was postponed. As for the reaction to the film, according to the director, the generals who had been to that war after watching "Brotherhood" did not believe that Lungin himself was not there. Some critics called the film sharp, complex and frank, and therefore inconvenient for many, but also noted the fact that it can be considered as a high-quality anti-war film.

Hotel Mumbai: Confrontation ". In a five star hell

Based on true events, the film by debutant director Anthony Maras will tell about the tragedy that took place in 2008 at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. For several days, guests and hotel staff will unite into a close-knit team for the sake of struggle for survival, and all imaginable and inconceivable means will be used. Dev Patel, Armie Hammer, Nazanin Bonyadi and Jason Isaacs starred in the drama.

Hotel Mumbai: Confrontation
Dubbed Trailer

If you are planning to go to a movie that will allow you to take a break from the military theme, then Hotel Mumbai: Confrontation is clearly not the case, because the war on terrorism can take the most terrible and ugly forms. Looking at the heroes of this picture, it's hard to think that real people have actually been to the hell shown on the screen. As for critics, they praise Maras' drama for its emotionality and realism, but warn that this is not a sight for the faint of heart.

Dumb scammers. " Strength of weakness

According to the plot of the female remake of the 1988 tape, a first-class swindler and an unassuming deceiver will unite in order to teach a lesson to the men who have unfairly treated them. The comedy is directed by two-time Emmy winner Chris Addison, and in addition to Hathaway and Wilson, Alex Sharp, Tim Blake Nelson and Ingrid Oliver will appear in the film.

REDUCED FRUITS

The film is full of jokes for every taste - from openly sexist to those below the belt, the main comedy line is predictably tied to the external and professional differences of the two heroines, but the male characters in The Dirty Swindlers, of course, are designed to serve these fiery ladies only background. If you, too, like to laugh at what happens when men underestimate women, welcome to the session.
