David vs. Goliath
Although the National Council of Critics of the United States ranked Alexander Payne's social drama "In Short" in the top ten films of last year, it failed to recoup its budget and received rather conflicting press reviews. As it became known to Deadline, the two-time Oscar winner is ready to take revenge for her failure and has already looked after a new intriguing film project.Payne is currently in talks with Amazon online to direct the legal drama The Burial. The plot of the film will be based on real events, and its main character will be the famous American lawyer Willie Gary. In 1995, Willie's law firm was approached by the owner of a small funeral parlor whose business was threatened with closure due to a nationwide network of funeral homes. The trial in this case turned into a battle between David and Goliath. As a result, the court sided with the plaintiff and awarded Willie's client $ 500 million. Since then, the lawyer has become one of the world's leading experts in claims against large corporations and earned the loud nickname the Giant Killer.  The script for the legal drama was written by Golden Globe nominee Doug Wright (The Pen of the Marquis de Sade).
