Pratchett's Discworld will receive teleadaptation

Image It seems that the BBC has decided to increase the viewership of its channels at the expense of the multi-million army of fans of Terry Pratchett's work. Currently, the British media giant and the American online service Amazon are filming a mini-series based on the novel Good Omens, which the legendary English writer wrote in collaboration with his compatriot Neil Gaiman. As it became known to Deadline, soon the heroes of Pratchett's book cycle "Discworld" will also go to small screens.

The management of the British corporation decided to support Narrativia in working on a television adaptation of the famous series of novels about the inhabitants of an amazing disk-shaped planet, resting on the backs of four huge elephants, which, in turn, stand on the shell of a giant tortoise.

The satirical fantasy cycle about a flat world includes 41 books. The first of them was published in 1983, and the last was published in 2015, a few months after the death of Terry Pratchett. The books in this series have sold 80 million copies and have become the basis for many radio shows, video games and television projects.

Narrativia was founded by Pratchett and his daughter Rihanna in 2012. At the same time, information appeared on the Web that the first projects of the young studio could be a television adaptation of Good Signs and the TV series The Watch. If over the years Narrativia management has not changed its plans, viewers will be waiting for a show about the city guard of the trading capital of the flat world. It is possible that the main character of the BBC serial drama will be one of Pratchett's favorite characters - the head of the Ankh-Morpork guards Samuel Vimes.

According to insiders, Simon Allen, who has already collaborated with the BBC on the adventure drama The Musketeers, will be heading the Discworld-inspired drama team.
