Step out, Aquaman!

Image Today it's hard to believe that in the 90s, Marvel had to sell the rights to a number of their characters to save themselves from bankruptcy. Over the past 11 years, Marvel have built the most grossing franchise in cinematic history and regained control of many of their comic book heroes. One of those who safely returned to their native land was the lord of the underwater world Namor. Looks like Kevin Feige and company are finally ready to throw this anti-hero into battle.

The director of the blockbuster Doctor Strange, Scott Derrickson, unexpectedly tweeted the cover of the comic strip Fear Itself: The Deep, which features Stephen Strange and Namor. Soon, the director deleted the message, but by that time Marvel fans had already managed to replicate his intriguing post.

The sequel to Doctor Strange has not yet been given the green light, but insiders are confident that Marvel has already secretly signed new contracts with Derrickson and the main stars of the original: Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams and Benedict Wong. In this case, the script for the film may well be ready. It is possible that this time the authors of Marvel decided to send Strange in search of the treasures of Atlantis.

Rumors that Marvel had agreed with the management of Universal to return the rights to Namor appeared back in 2012. Last summer, Kevin Feige made it clear that his studio received only partial custody of the anti-hero. The situation is similar to the one that happened with the Hulk. Marvel has the right to use its character in superhero crossovers, but cannot devote a solo album to him, since in this case Universal will be distributing the film.

After Warner Bros. earned more than $ 1.14 billion on Aquaman's solo album, Marvel management could seriously think about presenting their own version of the underwater king to the public, albeit in a film about a completely different superhero. It's worth noting that studio officials are in no hurry to comment on the mysterious post by Scott Derrickson.
