The Human Star will join the comic world
Captain Marvel is about a year away from the premiere, so it's no surprise that Marvel has begun putting together a cast for the film. As you know, for the first time in a blockbuster belonging to the studio's cinematic universe, the main character will be a woman, and now another woman has joined the film's team.According to Deadline, People star Gemma Chan got the role of Dr. Minerva in Captain Marvel. The actress will join Brie Larson, Ben Mendelssohn, supposedly playing the main antagonist of the tape, Jude Law and Samuel L. Jackson, who will once again embody the image of Nick Fury. In the original comics, Minerva is a spy and scientist working for the alien Kree race. She came to Earth in search of Mar-vell (Jude Law), previously exiled by the Kree and sentenced to death by them. Minerva's plans included mating with him in order to later use his DNA to improve the Kree genetic code. The heroine has superhuman speed and stamina, and can fly. What the story arc of the character in Captain Marvel will be has yet to be announced.  Gemma Chan is no stranger to filming large-scale franchises: she previously appeared in Fantastic Beasts and the fifth Transformers. In the fall, Gemma can be seen in the historical drama Mary Queen of Scots, and a little earlier in the comedy Crazy Rich Asians. The filming of Captain Marvel has been entrusted to Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. The USA premiere of the blockbuster will take place on March 7 next year.
