Pet Sematary may receive a prequel

Image Those who are not yet ready to take on the voluminous novels of the famous Horror King Stephen King will have the opportunity to watch the new film adaptation of "Pet Sematary" in a movie in a week. Meanwhile, the producer of the film, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, said that a prequel could be expected.

According to the plot of King's novel, Dr. Louis Creed moves with his family to a small town, where he receives the position of a doctor. Having settled in a new spacious house, the doctor learns that there is a highway directly opposite him, which has seen many deaths. Soon, the beloved cat Creed falls under the wheels of the car there. Louis and Jude allow their daughter to bury her pet in an ancient Indian cemetery nearby, even though gloomy legends circulate around this place. According to local residents, those who are buried here will certainly return, but in a completely different, "dark" guise.

Talking about the second part, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura told reporters that just releasing a remake is not enough, because no one knows what was happening in the small town before the arrival of the Creeds:“I think another film could be made based on this novel, and I especially interested in getting down to business, because we have the source material with all the details, creepy and scary, scary to goosebumps ".

By the way, fans of King's Cemetery have no idea what details of the book can be revealed in a separate film. There was speculation that the plot could be built around Timmy Baterman: he was the first to be buried in a pet cemetery. According to history, Timmy went to war against the Nazis in 1941, where he died. The body was returned to his home state of Maine to Timmy's father, who had lost his mind with grief. The father decided to bury his son in an ancient cemetery, but after a while Timmy returned, engulfed in the forces of dark magic.

Apparently, the creators of the picture do not want to go down the beaten path, releasing sequels. Moreover, "Cemetery" has already gone through this story, since in 1992 the sequel to the first film adaptation of the novel was released, which, unfortunately, did not gain commercial success, and also received not the most enviable reviews. And in general, not a single film adaptation of King has yet received a successful continuation, with the exception, perhaps, of "Children of the Corn": a whole franchise was based on this story. Who knows, maybe the producer of the upcoming remake is looking at the roots and preparing a real hit for us.
