Syfy Channel will open horror gallery

Image The bosses of modern TV channels and online services continue to prove that everything new is only well-forgotten old. Over the past couple of years, viewers have seen a resurgence of Twin Peaks, The X-Files and the Star Trek television universe, with the reboots of The Twilight Zone and The Wonderful Tales ahead. Today, a remake of another well-known television anthology has gone into work: as it became known to the Deadline edition, the Syfy channel decided to give new life to the heroes of the Night Gallery.

After The Twilight Zone became a hit on CBS, its creator, Rod Serling, came up with an anthology concept with a more horror bias. The Night Gallery premiered in November 1969 on NBC. It is curious that one of the three segments of the pilot episode of the show was filmed by the then-unknown debutant director Steven Spielberg.

The pilot's script earned Serling the prestigious Edgar Allan Poe award. To Rod's disappointment, NBC closed his brainchild after the third season. Nonetheless, The Night Gallery has managed to gain cult status among viewers thanks to numerous reruns on other air and cable television networks in America. Many modern horror masters, including Oscar-winning Guillermo del Toro, admit that it was Serling's anthology that prompted them to link their fate to the worlds of film and television.
