Sterling K. Brown will be the victim of racial discrimination

Image This Is Us star Sterling K. Brown has begun negotiations for a role in the biopic The Fence, Variety reported. The project is overseen by Fox Searchlight, directed by Peter Nix (Waiting Room) and scripted by George Pelecanus and Dennis Lehane (Goodbye Baby, Goodbye, Mister Mercedes), who originally planned to develop the story as a series.

The plot of the tape is based on the book of the famous Boston Globe journalist Dick Lehr ("Black Mass"), which tells about a very unpleasant incident that happened in the Dorchester area of the capital of Massachusetts on January 25, 1995. On that day, 911 received a message about a bloody gang showdown. Several police squads went in search of the perpetrators of the incident. One of them bumped into an African American climbing over a fence near the crime scene. Taking the man for one of the participants in the clash, the cops began to beat the poor fellow, but later it turned out that it was their colleague - undercover police officer Michael Cox. The Boston Police Department tried to hush up the story, but due to Michael's insistence on justice, it was still leaked to the press.

A filming date for the project has yet to be chosen, but if negotiations go well, it will be set for next spring, when Sterling K. Brown has a break from This Is Us. The popularity of the actor was brought not only by this family drama: for the role of prosecutor Christopher Darden from American Crime Story, he received a Golden Globe, and fans of movie comics may remember Brown in the image of N'Joba from Black Panther.
