Disney is ready to pull the sword out of stone
It looks like the big box office flop of The Sword of King Arthur by Warner Bros. will in no way affect the plans of the Walt Disney empire to create a game remake of the famous animated film "The Sword in the Stone". A full-length film based on the 1963 cartoon was announced two and a half years ago, when Emmy Award winner Brian Cogman (Game of Thrones) began work on its script. Now, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the fantasy blockbuster has finally found a director.The production of The Sword in the Stone will be directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. The Spaniard first loudly declared himself in 1996, when his debut work, the black and white short film "Esposados", won four dozen different film awards and received an Oscar nomination. The most famous English-language film Fresnadillo is considered to be the horror "28 Weeks Later". The Disney fairy tale will be produced by Brigham Taylor, who had a hand in the creation of the game version of The Jungle Book.  In the near future, Disney studio also plans to shoot another film based on Arthurian legends. Earlier this month, it became that Sir Ridley Scott could lead the film adaptation of Thomas Archibald Barron's book series about the adventures of the young wizard Merlin.
