Charlie Kaufman, who has already won the hearts of moviegoers with films such as Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Anomalysis, has found a new project for himself. The Oscar winner, who has earned a reputation as one of the most original screenwriters of our time, will write the thriller I'm Thinking of Ending Things and will himself implement it for the online service Netflix, reports the Variety portal.The film will be based on Ian Reed's debut novel of the same name, which tells the story of a couple - an unnamed protagonist and her boyfriend Jack, who are heading to a secluded farm to meet the girl's parents. However, after the young people unexpectedly deviate from the planned route, the main character finds herself alone in an abandoned school, from where, perhaps, there is no way out at all ... Reid's debut work was intense and intimidating. The author plunges the reader into the depths of the human psyche, touching upon the themes of freedom, the importance of relationships, fear and self-awareness. The book, of course, is far from the aesthetics of Kaufman's previous works, but such intellectual and psychological issues are certainly close to the director.  Charlie Kaufman is better known for his screenwriting, and his first experience in directing was the film "New York, New York", which did not pay off at the box office. After that, the filmmaker remained in the shadows for a long time, returning to the cinema with a magnificent animation film "Anomalysis", which received the Grand Prix of the Venice Film Festival. Kaufman managed to try his hand at the blockbuster genre: next year "Chaos Tread" will be released, for which he adapted the book by Patrick Ness. The Topic of Article: Deadly Route. |
