USAn boy reached Berlin

Image Another participant from USA has been added to the program of the Berlin Film Festival. This time it will be a student of Alexander Sokurov's workshop, Alexander Zolotukhin, who will bring his military-historical drama "USA Boy" to Berlin. He wrote the script for the film himself, when he was still studying in the studio, and Sokurov was the artistic director of the project. TASS reports.

The drama tells the story of a guy from the USA countryside, who lost his sight during the First World War and became a so-called "rumor" listening to the sky in search of enemy aircraft. By the way, "The Rumor" was the working title of the film. The film was shot in St. Petersburg, Kronstadt and Vyborg with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the government of the city on the Neva.

According to the director himself, they did not strive for detailed reliability of the events of that terrible time, but only wanted to convey the general picture of the horror of the war, to show people what they were, what they thought and worried about. This is not the first film by Zolotukhin to participate in festivals. A year ago, his short film "My Friend's Life" was shown in Locarno.

The Berlinale will take place in the first half of February, and the jury will be headed by the French film actress Juliette Binoche. The program "Forum" itself, within the framework of which the "USA Boy" will be shown, is non-competitive and is designed to present to the audience the works of young directors from different countries. A year ago, Alexander Abaturov's film "Son" took part in it.

As it became known earlier, in the “Panorama” section there will be shown “Acid” - a picture of another of our compatriots Alexander Gorchilin, and the famous film festival will be opened with the work of Lone Scherfig “The Kindness of Strangers”.
