The Miracle of Children's Literature

Image Dr. Seuss and his work enjoy unprecedented popularity today. Illumination Entertainment plans to release a new Grinch animation by the end of the year, and Warner Bros. not so long ago she expressed a desire to shoot a cycle of cartoons based on the works of Dr. Seuss. As the site Deadline managed to find out, work has intensified on another project dedicated to the life of the writer himself. Director Stephen Chbosky has agreed to direct the biopic of Theodore Zois Geisel (real name of Dr. Seuss).

The new film will tell about how in the 20s of the last century Geisel was in search of himself, but everything changed after meeting with Helen Palmer - his muse and future wife. It was she who prompted Geisel to choose a creative path and become Dr. Seuss. Thirty years later, illnesses, including cancer and depression, crippled Helen's health, and her husband's career began to decline until the woman convinced Theodore to follow his dream. This is how the famous "Cat in the Hat" was born.

And although "The Cat in the Hat" is perhaps the most famous work of Dr. Seuss, during his career he wrote more than 60 stories and fairy tales for children, among them - stories about Lorax, the Grinch and many others. Geisel is one of the best-selling children's writers: his books have sold over 650 million copies worldwide.

The project is produced by Karla Hagen ("At Any Cost"), and the script was written by third "Cars" authors Jonathan E. Stewart and Eyal Podell. For Stephen Chbosky, the biopic of Dr. Seuss will be the next work after the drama "Miracle", presented last year and unexpectedly grossed nearly $ 300 million worldwide. Among the director's future projects is also a Disney film about Prince Charming.
