USAn box office stole a billion
The previous weekend was the worst for the USA box office this year, but the last weekend set a new anti-record for 2019. The gross receipts of cinemas amounted to 566 million rubles, and taking into account that the premiere of the fourth Avengers will take place only on Monday, this week the situation will only get worse.The top five for the weekend (April 18-21) is as follows: 1. "Billion"  Week at the box office: 1 Added: 175 million rubles. Total fees: 175 million rubles. Sank / Rise: - (-) For leadership in the box office, "Billion" fought at first with the melodrama "After", but it received much fewer copies in cinemas, because the victory was confidently won by the film by Roman Prygunov. In its first week, the feed collected more than Selfie (123.7 million rubles) and Duhless (161.2 million rubles). The expected result of "Billion" is an amount in the range of 350-400 million rubles, which, however, will not make the project profitable, therefore the creators of the comedy are counting on viewers from other countries. 2. "After"  Week at the box office: 1 Added: 115.6 million rubles. Total fees: 115.6 million rubles. Sank / Rise: - (-) The romantic drama from director Jenny Gage is an adaptation of Anna Todd's youth novel, and therefore her target audience was rather limited. This did not prevent "After" from collecting a decent amount at the start and bypassing the debut results of paintings close to her in genre like "Three meters above the sky: I want you" (81.9 million rubles) and "See you" (94, RUB 5 million). 3. "Curse of the Weeping One"  Week at the box office: 1 Added: 69.4 million rubles. Total fees: 69.4 million rubles. Sank / Rise: - (-) Another newcomer of the week closed the top three. At the end of the weekend, the horror "The Curse of the Weeping One" celebrated its victory in the United States, but the USA audience is not familiar with such a character of Mexican folklore as La Llorona, or the Weeping Woman. The fact that James Wan was one of the producers of the horror film still helped Michael Chavez's film. It, at least, started at the box office not much worse than "The Curse of Annabelle" (80.7 million rubles). 4. "Shazam!"  Week at the box office: 3 Added: 41.2 million rubles. Total fees: 616.2 million rubles. Sagged / Increased: -2 (-68.8%) Last week, distributors prepared a lot of new products for viewers, so the old people had to make room for them. "Shazam!" lost a decent share of the audience, but managed to rise to the seventh line in the list of the highest grossing films of the year. 5. "Hellboy"  Week at the box office: 2 Added: 36.3 million rubles. Total fees: RUB 216.6 million. Sag / Rise: -4 (-74.9%) "Hellboy" also got into the next circle of hell, slipping to fifth place. Yes, Neil Marshall's film bypassed the results of two previous blockbusters about a hero from hell, but there is nothing to be proud of here, since the reboot has failed on all fronts compared to other modern comic books.
