USAn Box Office stuck in a quest with LEGO
The audience finally waited for the influx of premieres and rushed to vote for new items with a ruble. As a result, most of the top 5 over the past weekend are the debutants of the box office. And although not all of them met the expectations of distributors, it was thanks to the new releases that the box office of USA revived and showed a good result of 656 million rubles, which is 14% more than the amount earned by domestic cinemas a week earlier.The top five for the weekend (February 7-10) is as follows: 1. "Lego Movie 2"  Week at the box office: 1 Added: 113.3 million rubles. Total fees: 113.3 million rubles. Sank / Rise: - (-) Last weekend's ball was ruled by a cartoon about the LEGO constructor. Unlike the North American distribution, in the USA film, the film faced a serious competitor in the person of Claustrophobes. The onslaught from the horror "Lego Movie 2" withstood and eventually improved the starting performance of the first part (RUB 97.1 million), but lagged behind the Batman spin-off (RUB 125.6 million). 2. "Claustrophobes"  Week at the box office: 1 Added: 109.8 million rubles. Total fees: 109.8 million rubles. Sank / Rise: - (-) Thriller by Adam Robitel fully justified and even exceeded the expectations placed on it many times. This is not the first real-life quest movie, but it can rightfully be considered one of the most successful. The tape in the style of "Saw" turned out to be spectacular and exciting, and if we compare it with brothers in the genre, then the horror "Don't Breathe", for example, had a much weaker start - only 60.9 million rubles, but horror films with a similar English title Escape Room (in localization - "Quest" and "Claustrophobia") could not boast of something outstanding. 3. "How I Became USA"  Week at the box office: 1 Added: 73.5 million rubles. Total fees: 73.5 million rubles. Sank / Rise: - (-) The comedy, created within the framework of an agreement between USA and China on joint filmmaking, started off fairly well, but with such a start it will hardly recoup its $ 5 million budget. The full-length film, based on the series of the same name, was released in wide distribution both in domestic cinemas and in the Celestial Empire, but it has not yet achieved much success there either. 4. "Green Book"  Week at the box office: 3 Added: 64.9 million rubles. Total fees: 280.3 million rubles. Sank / Rise: -1 (-19.9%) In less than two weeks, the creators of the "Green Book" may take the stage of the Dolby cinema for the "Oscar", but for now, the picture remains to conquer ordinary viewers. In the USA box office, Peter Farrelli's drama turned out to be very tenacious: last week's leaders dropped out of the top 5, and the Green Book is still holding on. It has already earned more than Shape of Water and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and is now targeting the result of La La Landa (RUB 332.8 million). 5. "Alita: Battle Angel"  Week at the box office: 0 (preview) Added: 60.5 million rubles. Total fees: 60.5 million rubles. Sank / Rise: - (-) The screen version of the cult manga has not even been released yet, but has already made a lot of noise. The name of James Cameron in the credits of the film attracted so many people to preview screenings that, even with less than a hundred copies, the action by Robert Rodriguez plugged competitors into the belt and closed the top five.
