Monument Valley Indie Game To Go On Film

Image In Hollywood, the trend for film adaptations of video games continues to gain momentum, despite the fact that most of these projects received low ratings from critics and collected a small box office at the box office. Now the bosses of the film industry have taken notice of the as-yet-untouched niche of mobile gaming. According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures and Akiva Goldsman's Weed Road Pictures have given the green light to a film based on Monument Valley, set in a surreal world where the laws of space and time do not apply. The tape will be a mixture of CGI and live action movies, in which real characters will enter the game world.

Patrick Osborne took over as director of the film. The director received an Oscar for the Menu project in the Best Animated Short Film nomination, and is currently working on the screen version of the Nimona web comic. Goldsman himself will take over the production and will be assisted by Elizabeth Raposo and Gregory Lessans. They will select a screenwriter to work closely with Osborne on the adaptation.

Monument Valley is a one-of-a-kind meditation game that boasts both simple gameplay and amazing storytelling, said the director. -I am very glad that I was entrusted with the mysterious kingdom of Ida with incredible architecture, in which the main thing is to look at things from a different angle. I was honored to bring this unique world to the big screens with the talented producers from Paramount and Weed Road. ”

Dan Gray, head of development studio Ustwo Games, added: “It's been four years since Monument Valley first came out, and we've always wanted to bring our beautiful and wonderful world to the big screens. We are thrilled to have found creative partners at Paramount, Weed Road and Patrick Osborne to help us take our idea to another level. ”

The game has received over 160 million downloads worldwide and won the Apple Design Award, iPad Game of the Year in 2014, and two BAFTAs for Best British Game and Best Mobile Game.
