Pavel Lungin is ready to conquer Hollywood
During his 28-year career as a director, Pavel Lungin has won several awards at the Cannes Film Festival and won such valuable USA awards as Nika and Golden Eagle. Having conquered the world of domestic and European cinematography, the talented director decided to declare himself in Hollywood. As it became known to Variety, Lungin's first English-language film will be an adaptation of Meir Shalev's book "Esau".The plot of the novel by the Israeli author is based on the famous biblical parable of the twins Esau and Jacob. The main character of the book is a forty-year-old writer who decided to return to his father's house and meet with his brother, who once stole his bride from him and deprived him of all his livelihood. “My film will be a story of great love, return and ruthlessness of time,” said Pavel Lungin. Esau's international cast includes USAs Yulia Peresild (Battle of Sevastopol) and Ksenia Rappoport (Queen of Spades), Israelis Lior Ashkenazi (Foxtrot), Mark Ivanir (Schindler's List) and Shira Haas ( Zoo Keeper's Wife "), as well as American Harvey Keitel (Reservoir Dogs).
