Deathstroke said goodbye to solo?

Image According to the online portal CBR, Deathstroke's DC supervillain's solo album has been frozen indefinitely. Earlier it was reported that Warner Bros. plans to release a series of spin-offs, including one featuring Joe Manganiello.

Deathstroke is arguably one of the most flexible villains in the DC Universe. Of course, such negative characters as Joker or Penguin appear on the screens much more often and much more attention is paid to them, but they are too unambiguous in their confrontation with the protagonist, in this case, Batman. The difference between Deathstroke is that there are no boundaries of behavior. Acting as a mercenary, Slade Wilson can fight for any character or against anyone. This can be seen in the vast number of films, shows, games and cartoons in which he has appeared recently.

Given the frequency with which Slade Wilson has appeared in all of these projects, it is easy to forget that there was once a separate film planned for him, and this film even had a director - known for "The Raid" Gareth Evans. Deathstroke's appearance in Justice League was rumored to be just a prelude to his own solo album starring Joe Manganiello.

Manganiello himself, being a big fan of his character, was already ready to put on the recognizable Deathstroke helmet and start filming. Evans was also interested in a standalone film featuring hit man Wilson. But now the spin-off dreams have melted like smoke. Everything was cleared up when Evans was directly asked about the fate of the painting Deathstroke ("Deathstroke *"). It turned out that the director was only indirectly related to the project. He probably had several conversations on this topic with the leadership of DC and even spoke with Joe about the role, but the matter did not go further.

Perhaps one of the reasons the solo album idea fizzled out so quickly is the special role that Deathstroke has been assigned to the DC Expanded Universe. If you remember, he appears in Justice League after the end credits on Lex Luthor's yacht, who invites him to create his own League - Injustice.

There were also rumors that Deathstroke would become the main supervillain in Ben Affleck's Batman movie, but something has probably changed since Matt Reeves was appointed director of the project. It has not yet been announced which villain will face Batman in Reeves' film, so there is hope that Slade Joseph Wilson, aka Deathstroke, will somehow appear on the big screen.
