American in a galaxy far, far away

Image After the disappointing results of the spin-off about Han Solo at the box office, rumors emerged that Disney and Lucasfilm were seriously considering the fate of other solo projects from the Star Wars universe. However, this will not affect the main film series, and JJ Abrams continues to prepare for the filming of the ninth episode. According to the Variety portal, the first addition to the cast of the film just happened.

Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac and John Boyega, who will return to their roles in the sequel, will be accompanied by Keri Russell. She has worked with Abrams more than once: first they worked together on the drama "Felicity", which brought Keri "Golden Globes", and then the actress starred in JJ's full-length directorial debut - the third part of the Mission: Impossible franchise. Moreover, back in 2013, when Abrams began preparing for The Force Awakens, Russell admitted in an interview that she was ready to do anything for a role in the new Star Wars, and it seems that luck finally smiled at her.

The details of Russell's role, however, as is always the case with the cult film series, were not disclosed. And it's unlikely that fans of the franchise will know a lot of details before the premiere of the ninth episode. It is only known that the role of Russell involves participation in complex battle scenes, but on whose side, the Resistance or the First Order, she will fight, it is not yet clear. The source also writes that by the beginning of filming, Abrams and his team plan to diversify the cast with two more newcomers.

Keri Russell is no stranger to the action: she has already demonstrated her skills in the film Mission Impossible and the TV series The Americans, for which she was twice nominated for an Emmy.

Star Wars Episode 9 will premiere next December.
