Halo Teleadaptation Orphaned

Image The release of the Showtime adaptation of the Halo game franchise, the first information about which appeared back in 2013, is likely to be postponed again indefinitely. According to Variety, the project has lost its director and executive producer.

Rupert Wyatt, who directed the blockbuster Rise of the Planet of the Apes, directed several episodes of the first season and produced the series.“To my great regret, due to changes in the production schedule for Halo, I will not be able to continue working on it. We have worked very fruitfully with an amazing team, but now I have to join the legion of fans who follow the fate of the project from the outside. I will be looking forward to the series' release, ”Wyatt said in an official statement. The director is currently finishing a new film, Battle for Earth, which is scheduled to premiere in March 2019.

“It's clear that adapting Halo, with its colorful characters and gripping storyline, takes a lot of work, so we had to extend production to get it done. Unfortunately, this delay does not fit into Rupert's schedule, to whom we are very grateful for his contributions. ”explained Showtime Original Content President Gary Levine.

As we previously reported, the channel ordered a 10-episode first season based on the popular video game back in June after years of development. Kyle Killen (Awakening, A Beautiful Mind) has been appointed showrunner and executive producer. According to the official description published by the channel, the adaptation will tell about the epic conflict taking place in the XXVI century between humanity and the military alliance of alien races, known in the Halo universe as the Covenant.
