As practice has shown, they acted very wisely, since Michael Myers completely captured the attention of moviegoers.Halloween finished its first week at the box office with a score of $ 77.5 million. According to this indicator, the horror movie became the second in the list of October releases, just a few million behind Venom, and also the second among horror films with an R rating after It, whose $ 123 , 4 million hardly anyone will be able to surpass in the near future. As for the John Carpenter franchise, the new "Halloween" is the best starting point for Blumhouse. Earlier, the maximum amount for the debut weekend was earned for the studio "Paranormal Activity 3" ($ 52.6 million). In the 2000s, the horror genre experienced a real epidemic of reboots, when iconic film series began to trust up-and-coming filmmakers. It all started with Marcus Nispel, who successfully brought The Texas Chainsaw Massacre back to the screens. Her example was followed by "The Amityville Horror", "Friday the 13th", "A Nightmare on Elm Street" - they all showed the best debuts for their franchises. However, over time, the enthusiasm of the producers subsided. First, Paramount abandoned another remake of Friday the 13th, Calls failed at the box office, and the last Amityville Horror in the United States never made it to theaters. It looks like the reboot of "Halloween" will fundamentally change the situation, and it raised $ 91.8 million worldwide with a modest $ 10 million budget - this is an unequivocal success.  Among the main reasons for this success, producer Jason Bloom calls the fact that talented people with an unconventional vision, who had never dealt with horror films before, took on the revival of the cult film series. It's about director David Gordon Green and screenwriter Danny McBride. The popularity of the franchise itself, John Carpenter's involvement in the making of the film as an executive producer, and Jamie Lee Curtis's return to the role of Laurie Strode should not, of course, be underestimated. As a result, viewers gave Halloween a B + rating. The last time that such a good rating was received was "Halloween: Resurrection", released in 2002. Critics also liked Green's picture. They call it exciting, atmospheric and brutal, and this is exactly what the public expects from a film about Michael Myers.  In second place was the melodrama "A Star Is Born", which added $ 19.3 million to its piggy bank. Bradley Cooper's tape continues its triumphant march through cinemas. For the entire time it was at the box office, the film never climbed to the first line of the financial rating, but it can boast a decent amount of $ 126.4 million and the fact that this weekend it managed to bypass Venom for the first time.  The blockbuster about an alien symbiote, although it lost two positions and half of the audience at once, is still not slowing down: over the weekend it mastered $ 18.1 million. In the US, Venom earned $ 171.1 million and almost caught up with such movie comics as Captain America: The First Avenger, X-Men Begins. Wolverine "and" Ant-Man "(excluding inflation). The position of Eddie Brock and his unfriendly neighbor looks even better if we estimate his global revenue, which is currently $ 461.8 million.  The fourth place of the top-5 also went to the brainchild of the Sony studio. Horror II retained its position and improved the bottom line by $ 9.7 million. While the sequel earned $ 28.8 million in home theaters and the $ 80 million mark that the first film conquered, it seems unattainable for Erie Sandel's tape. The situation with the "Man in the Moon" is even worse. Universal had hoped the drama would follow the path of "Spy Bridge" or "Operation Argo" and will retain most of the audience, but the film with Ryan Gosling managed to lose half of the viewers. As a result, last weekend brought Damien Chazelle's film only $ 8.6 million, and $ 30 million is clearly not the amount that Universal bosses hoped for, who spent almost $ 60 million on the creation of the biopic.
