Witch Times

Image The growing budgets of modern TV shows have led more and more producers of television content to indulge viewers with spectacular adaptations of popular fantasy novels. As it became known to the Deadline edition, Jim Henson's entertainment company will try its hand at building magical worlds. The creators of The Muppet Show and the cult science fiction series At The End of the Universe have acquired the rights to television adaptation of Susan Dennard's book series, Witchlands.

The project was announced at the famous fantasy convention Dragon Con. To date, two novels of the cycle have been published, which for some reason domestic localizers have nicknamed "The Code of Magic". Dennard's books are set in a world ruled by three empires. When the truce between the warring factions comes to an end, the fate of the inhabitants of the magical land is in the hands of the young witches Safi and Isolde. The first one owns the magic of truth and is able to instantly distinguish the truth from the lie, and the second is able to see multicolored threads around people, personifying love, family, friendship and other ties.

The first book of the series, Sees the Truth, was published in early 2016 and jumped straight into the fourth spot on The New York Times bestseller list. The continuation of the fantasy epic started from the second position in the book rating.

The series will be produced by Lisa Henson, President of The Jim Henson Company. During its 60-year history, her father's company has won nine Grammy awards and over fifty American Television Academy Awards.
