James Gunn Fired as Director of Guardians of the Galaxy
James Gunn has been fired from his post as director of the third part of "Guardians of the Galaxy", according to The Hollywood Reporter. “The offensive statements found on James' Twitter cannot be justified. They are incompatible with studio values. We ended our working relationship with him, ”said Disney boss Alan Horn on Friday.These tweets, dating from 2008 and 2009, were discovered by the conservative portal The Daily Caller. The director joked about pedophilia, homophobia, rape and the 9/11 attacks. The disgruntled public wanted to demand an explanation from Gunn at Comic-Con. He was scheduled to speak at the Sony presentation on Friday. However, insiders say he was suspended from the event.  Gann commented on the situation: “The people who follow my work know that at the beginning of my career I considered myself a provocateur. I joked about taboo subjects and made controversial films. But I keep repeating that since then I have grown as a person. My projects and my humor have also changed. Yesterday James said that he regrets what happened: “My words from almost a decade ago are completely failed and unsuccessful attempts to be a provocateur. I regret them after so many years, not only because they are stupid, not at all funny, extremely disrespectful and absolutely not provocative, but also because they do not reflect me as the person I have become".  He continued: “No matter how much time has passed, I understand and accept this decision. Even after so many years, I am responsible for my behavior. All I can do now is hope that I will become better: understanding, accepting, tolerant and thinking about what I say in public. My deepest apologies. Gunn directed two films from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and was about to direct the third part, for which he had already written the script. Filming was to begin in Atlanta this fall. The alleged premiere of the film was set for 2020, although Marvel Studios did not officially confirm the release date of the tape.
