Restart awaiting Shrek
The franchise about Shrek's adventures consists of four full-length cartoons, a spin-off, and a range of short films. A couple of years ago it became known that the NBCUniversal company dreams of bringing the hero back to the screens, but these plans have not been realized until now.According to the Variety portal, Universal Pictures, which, like DreamWorks Animation, is owned by Comcast, is finally ready to embark on a new adventure with the green ogre and his friends. This is not surprising, since four cartoons about Shrek grossed nearly $ 3 billion worldwide, and Puss in Boots earned $ 555 million. At the same time, the bosses of the major decided not to continue the existing franchise, but to reboot it, and Christopher Meledandri will be the curator of this reboot. thanks to which "Despicable Me" and "Minions" appeared in the cinema. The source writes that the new version will receive not only Shrek, but also its spin-off Puss in Boots, which was released in 2011. In an interview with reporters, Meledandri admitted that although he was instructed to come up with new stories about Shrek, he dreams of getting actors from the original tape, whose voices have already become iconic for the franchise. We are talking about Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas - they voiced Shrek, Donkey and Puss in Boots, respectively. No plot details have been released yet, as Meledandri is still contemplating a script for the cartoon.  It is noteworthy that very soon the Illumination company, whose founder is Meledandri, will return another well-known character to the screens: "The Grinch" will join the repertoire of USA cinemas in December.
