Disney finally ditches Gunn
Despite an open letter from the Guardians of the Galaxy cast, Dave Batista's angry tweets and widespread fan support, James Gunn will definitely not return to directing the third part of the space blockbuster. The decision was made at a meeting between the filmmaker and Disney CEO Alan Horn, Variety reports.Almost a month has passed since the dismissal, and all this time the representatives of Gann insistently asked to give the director a second chance. However, Horn agreed to a courtesy meeting, only to clarify the situation. Although the meeting was calm and professional, sources say the Disney CEO insisted on his decision and refused to reinstate Gunn as director of the Guardians. Earlier, there were rumors that the head of the Marvel studio Kevin Feige was in favor of the return of Gunn. However, they were not confirmed, as Feige was not present at the meeting and in absentia supported the decision made by Disney.  Disney and Marvel will probably start looking for a new director soon. It is not yet known how much the shooting schedule has changed, which was supposed to start in early 2019, but fortunately for Guardians fans, insiders claim that James's original script will be used for the third part of the franchise.
