Murderous bachelorette party. Review of ”Really Bad Girls”

Image It seems that the laurels of "The Hangover in Vegas" for a long time will not give rest to directors and writers who want to follow the path beaten by Todd Phillips. Go to get the favor of the audience and producers and hear the brass pipes in your honor. Last week, the box office launched another "discussion on the topic" - "Very bad girls" .

Ten years ago, Jess and Alice were the best friends in the world. They studied together, participated in crazy student parties together. Years have passed, Jess running for the Senate, dressing conservatively, and going to marry the right young man. Alice works as a kindergarten teacher and lives with memories of a reckless youth. So it was Alice who decided to throw her best friend's bachelorette party in Miami, with lots of alcohol and a hot stripper. But after arrival, everything did not go according to plan - drugs, phallic paraphernalia, swinger neighbors and ... the cold corpse of a stripper were added.

Filmed "Very Bad Girls" Lucia Agniello, known for the Broad City show. Scarlett Johansson got the main role in the film. Background Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class) and Kate "girl in character" McKinnon (New Years Party). In the episodes - a passionate nymphomaniac performed by Demi Moore.

Roughly speaking, Lucia Agnello just took Bachelor Party in Vegas , Bachelorette Party there, Very Wild Things, Korean Hard Day and mixed them in Very Bad Girls . And there is absolutely nothing to blame her for - many directors, creating something of their own, consciously or unconsciously copy what they have already seen. The art of stealing was elevated to the absolute by the same Quentin Tarantino - he not only steals scenes and images from an unthinkable number of tapes, but also skillfully mixes them into an original cocktail, which is well known throughout the world. After watching Really Bad Girls , you can say for sure: Lucia Agniello definitely not Tarantino .

Arrival in Miami begins fervently: cocaine, half-naked Demi Moore , almost funny jokes about a tampon. However, after the invited stripper dies by chance, the tape begins to feel particularly feverish. The director, like her heroine, seemed to be at a loss and did not know at all what to do next. And when the director himself hasn't really decided what genre he is working with, the result is something indigestible. Poor actresses, led by an insecure director, rush from genre to genre, not really knowing when to play drama, when to comedy, and when to present drama so that it looks like a comedy. And one could focus on good acting work - the same Johansson sometimes plays very well, and McKeenon had good comedy training on TV - if not for one thing but ...

Working out the characters of the heroines is no good. Contrived dialogues, untrustworthy motivation, conflicts sucked out of the finger, and constant replay. It is difficult to talk about any individual mistakes, since the crookedly built house of cards of the story does not withstand even the slightest breath. The actresses give out an incredible amount of jokes and phrases taken out of context. Perhaps they would have turned out much more fun if they were not scattered around the script in a chaotic manner. As a result, it is not very clear who to sympathize with more - the actresses who categorically do not understand what to play, or myself, perplexed by what is happening on the screen.

The film could have saved the script if it weren't for the predictability and repetition at every turn. Stereotyped reactions of stereotyped heroes in stereotyped (by Hollywood standards) cases. A sluggish plot, which could swing due to strong direction and good acting, drowns in them safely. Perhaps the attempts to hide the corpse and, along the way, not to lose friends looked good on paper, but the particle “not” never reached the screen. There is only "bad" left.

As mentioned above, Very Bad Girls tried to copy a whole list of famous films. However, the director only dared to flirt with the "adult" rating, and not use its resources to the fullest. The picture turned out to be toothless, crumpled, "light". The only thing that remains in the memory after watching is an orgy on the beach with the participation of Demi Moore . This scene really turned out to be funny and catchy, but is it worth going to a whole movie for one episode?
