Review of ”Star Trek”. Endless Integrity
For 50 years, the starship Enterprise has been exploring the depths of space. In the anniversary year for the franchise, the third part of the relaunched Star Trek universe was released. It's amazing how the USA adaptation of the title Beyond - " Infinity " - resonates not only with the plot, conflicts, ending of the new film, but also with the tragic events associated with the premiere.The team is working normally. The camera dynamically flies through the compartments and corridors of the ship, highlighting everyday scenes of autonomous space travel under the lyric story of Captain Kirk ( Chris Pine ) about the new mission of the Enterprise. The crew and the ship are a living organism, where each element is linked to another, just like the other to the next. And this unity ensures the operation of the entire system. The romantic and relaxed opening at the same time hints at the film's main moral conflict - unity and democracy versus selfishness and vindictiveness. It also helps viewers, who first saw the characters on the screen, get involved in the story.  Against the background of the exclusively peaceful worries of the crew, the beginning of the new adventure of the Enterprise is abruptly fired. The ship stops at a kind of utopian outpost on the border of unknown space, the cover of the local universal (and in fact - American) democracy of Yorktown. A distress signal comes from a seemingly unexplored planet. Kirk , contemplating abandoning research and going "ashore", decides to lead the rescue mission. Needless to say, everything will go headlong, the Enterprise and the team will be almost destroyed, and a small task will result in a fight for millions of lives of Federation citizens?  At this point, Star Trek: Infinity engages the Retro Fantasy Adventure mode. Further, in terms of sensations, the whole action is very reminiscent of the 7th episode of Star Wars, whose retro-futurism was also noted by both viewers and critics. Threats await heroes at every corner, the plot is constantly being driven by new events and problems, the villain Kroll (Idris Elba) is fully revealed only at the very end, the decisive battle is grand and large-scale, and the idea that saved millions of lives is at the same time comic and elegant.  The script for this part was done by the Briton Simon Pegg , who plays in the rebooted trilogy of Scotty - the chief engineer of the ship. Pegg makes the classic plot moves work, diluting the story with humor, and leaving the strained pathos to the forces of evil - all this adds lightness to the picture. The division of the main and secondary characters into several "parties" is aimed at this, each group will reach a logical reunion with its own route, and the routes will be different: one is responsible for the action, the other for philosophical conversations, the third denounces the enemies of the Federation. The film flies through space-time at superluminal speed, without having time to tire the viewer with a far-fetched drama.  All this is mixed into a solid blockbuster and, thank God, does not pretend to be more. No psychological thrillers or biblical motives - just entertainment, only movies. JJ Abrams, who remained the film's producer, lost the director's chair to Justin Lin , and he successfully coped with his task. Of course, the tape fulfills the moral duty of a Hollywood blockbuster: it raises simple ethical questions and gives the usual honest answers to them; as usual in the coordinate system the positions of "good" and "evil" are determined and the point that the viewer should occupy is indicated.  Only external factors add interest to the film. The death of Leonard Nimoy, who played the old Spock in the trilogy, is touchingly presented as a plot event. With Anton Yelchin, the situation is different - his tragic passing away makes him catch every frame with Chekhov . And either because the script was written like that, or purely psychologically, but it seems that in this part he became closer to the characters in the foreground.  This story ends with the traditional " Star Trek " message about constant searches. And given that in each part of the new trilogy, the team was faced with a new adventure, roughly speaking, we see the same series. Only the episodes are released less frequently, and each of them costs about $ 200 million. The main advantage of this “procedural” format is its potential infinity.
