Claude Berry, one of the most famous French moviemakers of the older generation, died in Paris. He was 74 years old.

Berry came to the cinema in the 60s, and already his first short movies were appreciated at the level of the main European movie festivals. For the movie "Chicken" he was awarded the "Oscar".

Berry was lucky to work with the most famous French actors such as Gerard Depardieu, Yves Montand, Coluche, Carole Bouquet and others.

However, he was not only a successful director, but also a producer. Berry supervised the creation of the paintings Tess, Queen Margot, Asterix. From 2004 to 2007 he headed the French cinematheque.
