Samsung defends itself against Apple with Stanley Kubrick

Samsung has found a very original way to prove its case in a patent dispute with Apple, accusing its competitor of borrowing ideas when creating tablet computers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Samsung representatives filed a lawsuit in the California District Court, in which they pointed out that the possible source of inspiration was not Apple products, but the devices that appeared in Stanley Kubrick's 2001 movie: A space odyssey.

Indeed, in one of the episodes of the picture in front of two astronauts on the table are devices strikingly reminiscent of modern tablets.

The lawsuit emphasizes that `` quadrangular devices with a flat screen dominant on the bezel '' have the same form factor as which is cited in Apple patents. The plaintiffs ask the court to decide whether the brilliant insight of the designers who worked on the painting was the "original concept" all tablet computers.

If the court upholds Samsung's point of view, then, in theory, Hollywood movie studios will be able to use precedent to claim their rights to many of the modern inventions that previously appeared in science fiction movies.
