Review of the movie Han Solo: Star Wars. Stories. Solo Shoots First

Perhaps not a single Lucasmovie project, presented to the audience already in the "new era" of studio development, was shrouded in such a dense web of negative information, as was the case with the movie "Han Solo: Star Wars. Stories". In fact, from the very day the name of the leading actor was named. And, frankly, even the most die-hard Star Wars fans had little hope in him. But the great magic of cinema, multiplied by the talent of those who were among its adherents, did its job. The movie about one of the most popular characters in the saga turned out to be very good, and in some places even dazzling, like a blaster shot.

Who has not heard about the riots on the set, which were staged by the initially appointed directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who thought that the script was not written for such " If his first appearance on the screen still evokes a malevolent thought: "No, well, what a Solo", then in the next scene it changes to a much less categorical one, and a little later it is completely excreted from the body along with the remains of bile. Alden Ehrenreich is good, despite the fact that his facial expressions do not always resemble Harrison Ford, and, as you know, he did not come out in height. His acting talent is quite enough to convince the viewer that Solo was just that in his youth.

By the way, the moviemakers did fulfill their promise and really explained the origin of the hero's surname, and in a very original way. In general, the entire genesis of the character, proposed to the audience, looks logical and consistent, and individual episodes of the biography, such as meeting Chewbacca and explaining Solo's habit of shooting first, will undoubtedly delight true connoisseurs of "Star Wars".

Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian is the undisputed decoration of the picture. Unsurprisingly, Lucasmovie has already set out to make a separate movie dedicated to the former owner of Millennium Falcon. Without unnecessary spoilers, it should be noted that it was Lando who turned out to be the hero of the most touching romantic storyline of "Han Solo", which, by the way, proves the all-conquering power of love better than any other similar story.

Woody Harrelson as the mentor of young Solo and supplier of his famous blaster ... And when was Woody Harrelson bad at all? Paul Bettany, for whom this is the third joint project with Ron Howard, very frightening in the guise of the head of the crime syndicate Dryden Vos, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who never appeared in the frame, but created one of the most striking images of "Han Solo". By the way, it is with her character that a very funny attack on the “women’s rights” fighters is connected, for which various feminist organizations will certainly curse Ron Howard. Emilia Clarke looks much more organic here than in the attempt to reboot "Terminator", but still only the last act justifies a little the bet on her acting charisma, because only in the final episode does she give a real "heat".

the movie is a lot of nods to the classic trilogy, a few Easter eggs that only true fans of "Star Wars" can see and one truly "mind-blowing advent" that will require the creators to explain the planned sequels.

"Han Solo: A Star Wars Story" is the second solid spin-off of the famous saga. Not without flaws, (which is not surprising given all the known circumstances of the movie's creation), not as dramatic as Rogue, not as global as any of the numbered episodes, but very convincingly demonstrating that the Star Wars brand is still in the right hands.

Solo shoots first! Yes, and Chewbacca really rips off his hands.

Solo fires first! Yes, and Chewbacca really rips off his hands.
