Review of the movie Aliens. The myth of being right
A group of American doctors travel to an unnamed Arab country to vaccinate children. At the border point they are stopped by USA soldiers: passage is prohibited. After a short dialogue, ending with the words `` America – democratic country! '' cars with doctors turn around, drive off to the side and, through a minefield, drive to their destination. We – soldiers, you – humanitarian mission, they – local residents. Three languages, three cultures. A head-on collision occurs and the injuries sustained are not severe enough to result in death, but noticeable enough to raise some questions. `` Well done, didn't cry at all! Remember to wash your hands before eating. ” - like a jammed record, she repeats it 80 times in a row. There are two women (and three men) in the team of doctors. The first is the wife of the head of their team, she plays a difficult game with a local Arab guarding their group. The result is quite predictable – he is stronger, but he is able to give her something that a legitimate husband will never give, he can give her a child (not without pleasure for himself, of course). The second heroine once worked as a teacher in an elementary school. A harsh, cold, lonely woman. Reminiscent of a terrible teacher from a strict (possibly also religious) school for girls, where the punishment – this is the only way to get the child to learn. She is sure that eating with her hands is forbidden, antihygienic, simply abnormal. And who would dare to argue? But these children, like their grandfathers, have been eating with their hands for as long as they can remember. And who is right?
The English-speaking actors and the USA-speaking director worked through an interpreter, and very often their mutual understanding on the set was intuitive. According to the actors, once they read the script, they stopped hesitating and agreed to the job. After all, the language barrier is not so bad. As a result: a drama with elements of an action movie, rhythmic music, a moving camera, and, of course, heroes full not only of cockroaches in their heads or skeletons in the closet, but crawling in this raisins of oddities and ordinariness.
