British actor Benedict Cumberbatch, known to viewers for his role as Sherlock Holmes in the TV series about the famous detective, will accompany his colleague Martin Freeman on the set of the Hobbit dilogy. This is reported by the resource SlashFilm.
Cumberbatch will voice one of the main characters in The Hobbit - the dragon Smog. Earlier there were rumors that the dragon would speak in the voice of Bill Nighy.
Recall that parts of the dilogy will be called The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. and The Hobbit: There and Back, which will be released on December 14, 2012 and December 13, 2013, respectively. The movies will take place 60 years before the events of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
