Review of the movie Neighbors on the Warpath. War of generations

" Neighbors on the Warpath " - this movie is funny, but not to tears, smart, but not that very, actual, but at the same time superficial. It is more a play by the four main actors: Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne and Dave Franco. It's not bad, it's just pretty boring for the most part.

Rogen and Byrne play young parents trying to prove to young people that they are not old grumpy couch potatoes, and at the same time get rid of their neighborhood. The movie begins too long for a comedy, and then suddenly the denouement comes quickly, but the heroes will languidly trudge to the credits for another ten minutes. Even worse, screenwriters Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O'Brian managed to create complex characters for teenagers, but failed to make parents as interesting. Watching the characters of Franco and Efron is just as interesting and funny as it is boring to stare at Rogen and his on-screen wife.

There is a lot of humor in the movie, and it is fairly evenly divided between the family and the brotherhood of students. Jokes will make you smile a lot, but they almost never let you laugh properly, so you leave the hall with some dissatisfaction. And again, the scriptwriters are to blame, because all the actors give their best and laugh at themselves great.

Most of all, of course, the transformation of Efron is surprising. Not physical, of course, but acting. So to actually laugh at your own public figure, and even in front of the whole world, one must not only be able to, but also not be afraid. Most likely, Efron's courage will now play into his hands, because in the movie he is devilishly hilarious.

Seth Rogen will not be helped so much by his mockery of himself, because this is not the first time he has done it. However, it is simply impossible to deny his excellent acting chemistry with Rose Byrne. They are so easy to believe that long exposures become even more unnecessary.

Dave Franco sometimes looks too much like his older brother, including in his playing style. However, he, like Efron, managed to demonstrate different sides of his talent: from comedy to some kind of drama.

Most of all attracts the visual embodiment of the movie. The creators, especially director Nicholas Stoller and cameraman Brandon Trost, did their best. The scenes of the parties are so well movieed that I really want to get on the screen and dance with everyone. Physical jokes – this is a separate feature of Neighbors on the Warpath, because there are many of them and they are the funniest. Especially the fight between Rogen and Efron rubber ... ahem, obscenities. It's okay, of course, but the toilet humor still makes the audience cackle loudly, so you can't go anywhere without it. If you want smart comedies, go for Woody Allen.

We should also mention the gorgeous supporting cast. From Kick-Ass's Christopher Minz-Plasse to Lisa Kudrow, they're all memorable to say the least. And not everyone and not always manage to create so many active participants in the action in less than two hours.

It should be added that at least `` Neighbors on the Warpath '' and sometimes they beat below the belt, they still represent a clear and understandable commentary about youth, and about the older generation. You can only watch this commentary on the small screen, although surrounded by a crowd of people it is much more interesting. As one of the people at the exit from the audience remarked: the movie would have gone much better surrounded by friends, drinks, and for some, a joint.
