Creator of Pirates of the Caribbean Gore Verbinski will not be movieing the popular game Bioshock; Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, known to viewers from 28 Weeks Later, will take over as the director. Verbinski will retain his position as producer of the project for now. According to Variety, the reason for Verbinski's resignation was his reluctance to shoot the movie outside the United States, which is insisted by the management of the Universal movie company, seeking to save money on movie production.

Recall that in April 2009 the project was frozen, as Universal not satisfied with the announced budget of $ 160 million.

It is assumed that Verbinski was unable to travel to one of the European countries due to the work on the animated movie Rango, which he shoots for Paramount.<
