Universal Films The Nutcracker
Universal Pictures is preparing its own version of Hoffmann's famous fairy tale The Nutcracker. The Variety edition reports that the project will be based on a script by Jon Gann and John Mann, the details of which are still unknown. Recall that the work of Hoffmann, which gained worldwide fame mainly due to the ballet by P.I. Tchaikovsky, was repeatedly movieed. The last movie based on the fairy tale was The Nutcracker and the Rat King Andrey Konchalovsky. The ambitious $ 90 million project failed at the box office, earning a total of only $ 14.4 million. In North America, the picture grossed a little over $ 195,000, but apparently this did not stop someone from Universal's guide to assess the potential of the original story.
