What was previously only a rumor has become a reality. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the remake of Total Recall, directed by Len Wiseman, will really do without Mars and space travel, and all the action will focus on Earth.
According to the plot, the main character is Douglas Quaid finds itself in the center of the confrontation between two world powers - Euro-America and New Shanghai. The problem is that Quaid cannot remember which side he is on.
As for the villain, he will be the head of Euro-America, Vilos Cohagen, who is secretly preparing for the invasion of New Shanghai. The main role will be played by Colin Farrell, and the role of Cohagen went to Brian Cranston.
Thus, Wiseman's movie will be equally far removed from the original work of writer Philip Dick and from Paul Verhoeven's 1990 painting.
New version of 'Total Recall' will be released on August 3, 2012
