Astrodroid R2-D2 discovered in the Star Trek universe
The famous R2-D2 astrodroid, known to all fans of the Star Wars saga, is discovered in J.J. Abrams' movie Star Trek. The discovery was made by the users of the Gizmodo blog right after the licensed copy of the movie went on sale on DVD and Blu-ray on November 17. R2-D2 appears in frame for only half a second as the Enterprise flies through the debris. At Industrial Light & Magic., Who created special effects for the movie, confirmed the presence of the astrodroid in this particular episode. The video clip can be viewed here. Recall that the Paramount studio, even before the release of the movie in wide distribution, announced that it was ready to award prizes to those viewers who can see the popular Star Wars hero in the movie.
